Frequently Asked Questions.

The fundamental advantage of hydraulic equipment is that pound for pound, hydraulics will deliver more power than either electric or air powered equipment. More power generally translates to faster cutting speed and more efficient performance on a job.

When viewing a handsaw blade (from the mounting side) on a down-cut saw, the blade will turn in a clockwise rotation, while an up-cut saw will turn in a counter-clockwise rotation. When making a vertical cut down a wall with a down-cut hand saw, the trigger will be at the bottom of the saw when cutting downward. When making the same cut with an up-cut saw, the trigger would be at the top of saw when cutting downward. The choice of an up-cut vs. a down-cut model is a matter of personal preference and is usually based on the operator’s training and experience. Down-cut handsaws are the predominant model in the eastern U.S., while up-cuts tend to be most common in the western part of the country.

The first consideration is the type of power unit that is powering the handsaw — how many gallons per minute and at what psi does the power pack deliver to the handsaw? Generally, you should not use a motor larger than the gpm flow that the power pack can provide. Other factors may include the type of cutting and the distance from the power source. We can help you determine which option makes the most sense for the type of work that you are doing.

You should choose a segmented diamond blade that is specifically designed for use on a hydraulic handsaw. Since hydraulic handsaws run at a lower horsepower compared with a wall saw or slab saw, they would typically use a blade with a softer diamond bond. However, as with any type of cutting, blade selection depends on the type of the material being cut, the hardness of the aggregate and other jobsite considerations.

It can be used with any equipment that is hydraulically driven, including handsaws, hydraulic core drills, chain saws, and ring saws, chipping hammers, breakers and crushers, augers and more.

Diesel offers two main advantages. First, a diesel power pack uses about half the fuel compared to gas. Second, the serviceable life of a diesel engine maybe as much as 10 times that of a gas engine. On the other hand, gas engines are usually much lighter weight as well as less expensive.

A loop saw is a type of slab saw designed for cutting circles in concrete or asphalt. Circular loops are used for installing electrical traffic detection systems in roadways, intersections or structure entrances. Traffic loops can detect vehicles as they pass across or stop on the loop, measuring vehicle weight, speed and other variables. Our traffic loop saw is uniquely made for these types of applications.
